We used locally sourced beeswax which is a natural ingredient with numerous advantages for skin health. It is known for it's anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. Beeswax can calm redness and irritation, making it beneficial for sensitive skin. Beeswax is rich in vitamin A and has been proven to promote cell generation. It helps your skin to heal faster while creating a barrier between your skin and the surrounding environment without clogging your skin's pores. The locally sourced Beeswax has a subtle, sweet scent reminiscent of honey, often described as warm and comforting.

Organic, cold-pressed, and hexane-free castor oil is a natural vegetable oil obtained from the seeds of the Ricinus communis plant. We utilized distilled water in the process of crafting our natural soaps as it helps to eliminate mineral impurities such as iron, calcium, and magnesium, which can lead to rancidity, soap scum, or unsightly spots. Do our soaps have lye in them? No, the end product does not include lye, but lye is an integral part of the soap-making process through the method of saponification.

This is a necessary soap making ingredient used in the production of natural cold process soap bars, hot process soap bars, and liquid soaps. Lye is a very-alkaline product that has been used to make soap for decades. The chemical processes that take place later in the soap making process, known as saponification, neutralizes the lye in the soap while activating its cleansing power, despite the fact that this may sound strange to add to soap. Saponification is the traditional chemical process that converts fats and oils along with a strong alkaline base into actual soap and natural glycerin. In the soap-making process, these components interact to produce a final bar or liquid that has cleansing properties and the well-known lather that people associate with soaps.

We use pure sodium hydroxide (lye) for crafting our soap bars, and pure potassium hydroxide (lye) to craft our liquid hand soap.

We use lye during our soap making process for the following reasons:

1. It's the most natural approach to create soap.
2. By using pure lye, we avoid the use of any synthetic compounds that may irritate skin or trigger allergies.
3. Lye produces soap with strong natural cleansing qualities, making it an amazing bar of soap made by hand!

Historically, lye has a historical lineage that spans more than 4,000 years. It was created by running water through wood ashes. This method complicated the ability to measure the lye concentration effectively. As a result, "lye soap" was often considered very harsh.

Today, we can precisely know the concentration of our lye. We also have saponification tables and calculators that provide the specific saponification value for each fat or oil. This value is vital because it tells us how much lye is necessary to saponify a specific amount of fat or oil, ensuring that we use the right amount of lye so that none remains in the finished soap. Just soap and natural glycerin, which is highly moisturizing.
